Robert DeNiro: Profitable and Timeless Communication Principles

Before Robert DeNiro was a grumpy old man, he played some of the most legendary film roles of all time.

And why were his performances so memorable?

A: Because they were AUTHENTIC.

This was accomplished through a stunning dedication to his craft.

  1. He gained 60 lbs for Raging Bull
  2. Filed his teeth to look scarier for Cape Fear
  3. Became a cab driver for Taxi Driver
  4. Lived in Siciliy, Italy for Godfather Part II
  5. and learned to play the sax for New York, New York

He wasn’t just “acting”…

He captured emotion by BECOMING the character.

Robert didn’t have to “think” about micro-expressions and sub-communications because he knew EXACTLY how a person in that position saw the world.

(Because he had LIVED how the character did).

How does this apply to putting more money into your pockets?

Take a note out of my man Tej Dosa’s book, who used a similar approach to master copywriting.

When he first started out, he wasn’t making nearly enough sales.

So what did he do?

He rode the city bus to become one with his market.

  • he saw what they were talking about
  • he saw what brands they were wearing
  • he saw what kind of issues they had to deal with

Once he applied this intel to his sales letters, profits soared.

You see, people want to buy from those who understand their exact problems.

Not “similar” problems… but the EXACT narrative going on in their head.

If they can’t relate to your language, they won’t buy.

When you know your market, it’s easy to nail the subtleties other marketers neglect.

That’s where the game is really won.

In the subtleties.
