Shackleton considered it unfinished business.

He assembled a crew of 27 men.

• Sailors.
• Scientists.
• Carpenters.
• Navigators.
• Survival specialists.

Together they boarded a ship called Endurance.

The name came from Shackleton’s family motto:

“By endurance we conquer.”

At the time, nobody could have known how important that word would become.

Because before the expedition ever reached Antarctica, disaster struck.
